Re: coolest shirt I ever had
Yes, I had one of those too. Very cool design. I also had an Elderly Instruments t-shirt that had all the bluegrass instruments as "elderly" characters. That one was my favorite. I wore them all out.
Re: coolest shirt I ever had
I worked in silkscreen design for many years and have reproduced shirts before, but I think you have to be careful about who the artwork is owned by.
Is it possibly already available somewhere in a print on demand format?

Hey! Don't you guys know about google? This took less than a minute. I just googled "evolution of mandolin," then selected "images."
Y'all can take it from here. And yes, someone should at least find an attribution and/or get permission before production.

Also found it here. Might be closer to the source, though there's no indication of authorship.

Re: coolest shirt I ever had
I did that too (different search engine), and I spent about 15 minutes or so and didn't find it. Evolution of mandolin. Images. Got way different results. Very good, JB! Higher resolution than that would be needed, though, for t-shirts, or else it would have to be reconstructed from scratch.
Re: coolest shirt I ever had
Not a big deal. Me, I just about always do my research first and then come here if I get stumped. Quite a hive mind here.
Might not hurt to get started on the artwork and sort out the paperwork later. ;)

To clarify, while you're criticizing others:
All stolen from the Mandolin Cafe. It's been on this page near the bottom since the day I created and uploaded it, September 7, 2002. I gave Ken Cartwright permission for him to reproduce it on a t-shirt if he wished.
Re: coolest shirt I ever had
Okay then, that's that. I have the utmost respect for peoples' intellectual property rights.
Re: coolest shirt I ever had
Seems to me that with this earnest discussion, there's ones of dollars seeking to be made in a new run of shirts.
Re: coolest shirt I ever had
Oops! Sorry for causing any ruckus. My point was that the image was easy to find via google. Though oddly, the original (Mandolin Café) didn't show up. That seems odd. At both of these sites the artist was not credited, that I saw.

Ahem...
That image has been posted on the forum dozens of times over the years, twice at least in this thread below. It's not that the image didn't show up...

And there's this, directly from using the default search on this page that tags Google. Let's see... looking... looking... looking.

So.... since you created would you consider getting someone to print up Mandolin cafe evolution of man shirts. I would love to buy a few, if for a tall guy.
Re: coolest shirt I ever had
I did a www google, did not access through the Mandolin Café. Lots of similar results to what you displayed, but didn't see a MC attrbution. I repeat - Sorry!
Going to my corner, now ...

The default search engine for the Forum uses Google. They're essentially one and the same, just different instructions. As long as you keep posting, I'm happy to continue the discussion.
Here it is posted two years earlier, in 2007.

Hey, I know the guy that posted that!
Re: coolest shirt I ever had
Here's around 90 more places on the web where it ended up. They must have like it.
Re: coolest shirt I ever had
I'd get in line for one of these t's if offered again.

I'll buy one too (provided it is updated for the 21st century - that 20th C. guy is looking a bit haggard, unless he's actually the Worlds's Most Interesting Guy and that's a Shmergel D. he's holding)
Re: coolest shirt I ever had
My favorite is one that says "Never underestimate an old man with a mandolin"

Me, too!
How would it work with a full band, though? I figure that the fiddler would have to go at the front of the line, given the bow and the lack of frets. Maybe the guitar player could go between the banjo and the mandolin?
Re: coolest shirt I ever had
If someone wants to print one for themselves fine by me. There is no hi-res version version though. Never was intended for that.
Re: coolest shirt I ever had
Can't help you, but I'll take a turn and tell you mine: The black cotton snap-button cowboy shirt someone abandonned in my tent at Woodstock. Perfect fit. Wore it till it was tatters. My first cowboy shirt and far from my last.

Well thanks Scott and everyone. I'm ordering iron on transfer sheets from amazon to print on an inkjet and making myself a new (old) t shirt.

I couldn't find a decent color image to use so here's a silhouette design.
