VIDEO: The Stray Birds - Time In Squares
Here's a new video that we just published today at the WAMU's Bluegrass Country YouTube channel.
This is The Stray Birds performing Time In Squares. That's Oliver Craven on mandolin and Maya de Vitry on lead vocals. Charlie Muench on backing vocals and bass.

That Kimble sounds really nice. I really like the snakehead on that F. :)
Re: VIDEO: The Stray Birds - Time In Squares
Fantastic. My favorite configuration for a bluegrass band, too.
Re: VIDEO: The Stray Birds - Time In Squares
Man. There sure am a lotta good young bluegrass bands around these days.
Re: VIDEO: The Stray Birds - Time In Squares
Saw these guys up at the Cook Shack north of Statesville a couple of months ago. I was impressed all around, but mostly with their great dynamics, both vocally and with the instruments. Lots of fading in and out, emphasising key parts, etc.
They only had 2 CDs for sale or I would have bought more.

Not long ago I saw this video (http://www.npr.org/event/music/16552...y-and-resolute) online and was floored. So much so that I bought their album from amazon without even previewing the tracks, which is something I never do.
It's a fantastic album all around!!

This is a great band. I caught them recently at a local venue opening for a very forgettable headliner. They're the main act at the same place this summer and I can't wait to hear them again.

Wow! Great performances. Thanks for posting WAMU. The cut in dslaboone'a link above is really haunting me.

Maybe someone else can help out.

They performed this song too-- Heavy Hands. No mandolin, but gorgeous nonetheless...

Here's another video of The Stray Birds. Their original material is stunning, but here they're doing a great rendition of Townes Van Zandt's "Loretta." http://vimeo.com/55102208
The Birds are an exceptionally talented young trio--they do rise above the rest!
