Looks like a good price on an MT.
What do you think of this -- https://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/ms...907304164.html
Looks like a really good deal. I've been thinking a buying one of these for maybe 10 years and watched the new price creep up a little bit each year. I don't know mind some play wear on the top if it plays well.
I may go look at it as it's reasonably local. Anything in particular I should look out for when inspecting it?

That's a good price, if it's legitimate (always use caution when a price is too good) and if it's still available (it was posted 23 days ago). As far as inspecting this (or any) used mandolin, check for 1) loose braces, 2) any slight caving of the top 3) the neck is straight, 4) watch out for fakes. I haven't heard of any fake Collings... has anybody? Also, taking it to an expert is an option.
Weather you buy it or not, if you haven't played one already, it would be worth going to play this.

It's still available, and it comes with a case.

That is a good price. The seller may just be motivated to sell it quickly.
I have watched the prices of new ones climb also. I bought mine new in 2012 for $2350 - honey amber gloss top. I see them advertised these days for around $3k.. quite a jump.
My MT is fantastic.
Best of luck!

It's a great price - I paid $2200 for a virtually mint MT honey amber, I love mine. Grab it if it's still available!
