Something unique: Phoenix Custom 'Blue Mahoe'
I came across this in an old unused Cafe social group on Phoenix mandolins. I thought it quite unique and thought perhaps others might find it interesting. I wonder what happened to it???? I think Rolfe was an extremely gifted builder! Here is a link to an ad on Mandolin Brothers:

Always admired his work. This mandolin is a true original, just like Rolfe.
Thanks for posting this.

Very cool looking mandolin with unusual features, especially the woods and the moose bone nut. Here's a video (I think) of Stan playing it.

And here is some info on Blue Mahoe wood.

Jim - thank you for posting the video. I wonder what prompted Rolfe to build out of this wood? He was such an innovator!

Man. Beautiful craftsmanship and I'm all for innovation, but the tone doesn't appeal to me at all. Maybe it's the moosebone nut. It reminds me of a Mid Missouri I briefly owned.

Yes - maybe it is the recording????
