Swedish Christmas Youtubes. Moller, Tallroth etc.
Just discovered a bunch of Youtubes from Jul I Folkton, which seems to be a concert of Swedish Christmas music featuring Lena Willemark, Ale Moller, Roger Tallroth, Sofia Karlsson and others.
Really lovely. Marvellous singing and playing.

Marvelous. Is there anything Ale Möller can't do?

I'm glad someone else likes it. There's quite a lot of CBOM and tenor guitar interest here as well, incidentally.
I think you can get a CD or downloads of this stuff from Amazon or elsewhere.
Jul I Folkton Live is the CD, from 2009. There seems to have been an earlier CD, but I'm not sure on details.

That Jul I Folkton live CD is one of my holiday favorites. You can download it for a very reasonable fee from iTunes (16 tracks for &9.99).

Great! I love Christmas carols, and play lots on the mandolin. Swedish carol music was new to me, but I really enjoyed
the pieces.

Re: Swedish Christmas Youtubes. Moller, Tallroth etc.
My wife gave me the folios of Scandinavian fiddle tunes (I ordered ; ) for Christmas - I've been on a bit of a tear with it lately...ordered a hardanger too.
I've got a soft spot for trad scand.

Re: Swedish Christmas Youtubes. Moller, Tallroth etc.
Roger Tallroth plays in Vasen - I must try some of their tunes on mandolin, because they should fit the same kind of pitch range. Vasen has traditional Swedish tuning nyckelharpa and 5 string viola strung C G D A E, which should fit. At the high end of the range (mandolin high E string up) the nyckelharpa has high string tension and short string length, because it's playing high up it's top string (which is tuned to the same A as mandolin A string). At those pitches it sounds to me as if it shares some of the frequencies of top strings mandolin. Vasen publishes books of their self composed tunes.

Actually he left Vasen last year. Vasen are now continuing as a duo.

Thanks Dagger - pity, the 3 piece worked really well. Roger Talroth used to play what appeared to be a Martin 12 string guitar, but it didn't make the big jangly 12 string sound I expect to hear (maybe I listen to too much Leo Kottke?).
