I'd be down for a jam session. What do you play? I play piano, guitar, both rhythm and lead and penny whistle..I can hold my own on accordion in a pinch.. I have an oval A mandolin coming in but I haven't figured the mando out yet. Im in the Lillington area
I'm also interested in finding a jam session.
There is this as well:

Thanks for the info. I'm in Mt Holly NC (close to Charlotte) but may have to make the drive. Looking for a session just to sit in & observe. Started mandolin about 4 months ago so still very much a newbie. Looking to learn & absorb from others.
I am trying to host a regular jam here in Chapel Hill. Any takers?
Just got back from seeing David Childers play a set. I do believe he still lives in Mt. Holly.

There is also a jam at the Bynum General Store.

Phil beat me to it Patty. Come check out the Library sometime. It varies a lot in quality/atmosphere/etc. based on who all shows up of course, but my two trips have been fun so far. Last week we had 4 mandolins to 5 guitars!
+1 on the Bynum General Store jam mentioned above.
I have been going to that semi regularly over the last ~4 months and there is always a good, friendly crowd.
Dodson's garage in Hillsborough, where I-40 and old NC 86 meet. Every 2nd Wednesday @7:30, this week is on. Always a good time.
hmm, will try to make some of these as well looks like Bynum General Store is only 20min from me. I am still trying to get a regular thing here in Chapel Hill if anyone is interested.
Yes, he "opened: at a coffee house in Mt Holly a few weeks ago. Personally, I thought he was better than the "main event". Would love to sit in a session with him but seriously out of my talent range. Just sit & soak it up; think I could learn a lot just from watching.....
Too late this week but will definitely mark it on the calendar for next time :)
Thanks for the info..
Just found out about this one Monday nights at Common Grounds Coffee and Music in Bunn, NC.

Thanks for the info; got to Troutman for their session & enjoyed hearing them play & just observing.
Bass, fiddle, couple of guitars & set of harmonicas. Great sound & very welcoming group :)
Could tell they had been playing together for a while. Took time to answer my questions & didn't seem to mind that I was an obvious novice.
I'm going back (this time I'll be brave enough to join in; I actually knew a couple of songs & those I don't know, I can listen & learn...)
@patty
All that plus 2 mandolins and a quiet banjo tonight.
Hey, is this group still meeting?
