Tenor Guitar sheetmusic and name
Hi
Since a standard tuned Tenor guitar is tuned like a viola is the relevant sheet music in alto clef?
Furthermore why are tenor banjos/guitar called tenor? Shouldn't they be called alto banjo/guitars since their standard tuning is similar to an alto violin?
Re: Tenor Guitar sheetmusic and name
The sheet music I have seen is in treble clef.
Re: Tenor Guitar sheetmusic and name
The only formal training I received was on tenor sax & all manuscript for that is in treble clef. Tenor sax range goes lower than tenor guitar/banjo/alto violin or tenor violin for that matter
Re: Tenor Guitar sheetmusic and name
Standard (6-string) guitar is written in treble clef and transposed up an octave. Most of the tenor guitar (which isn't much) is treated the same. Alto clef is accurate but confusing and since you don't want to go four+ ledger lines down for the lowest sounding note on the instrument, the transposition makes a lot of sense.
