let me start by saying,
1)the Bend boyz got it going on
2)i pledge i will not look at TMS website for the next 2 years
3)checks all the boxes, and then some
4)i was not expecting to do something like this..............
2 lbs, sugar maple back/sides, sitka top, walnut binding with black/white purfling, gold evo frets, 1 1/8" bone nut, dovetail neck joint, love the bottom point-balances perfect for playing seated, sounds exceptional with very low buzz free easy action.

the Weber hardcases have always been exceptional in fit, build quality, and carry weight. heavy grade hardware,4 latches that fit and work exact, leather handle, firm interior appointments that hold the instrument tight with no movement, classy dark grey textured outer covering.

That's beautiful Daryl! So you're getting yourself a new mandolin?! The mandolin store got two sales out of us in a day and it matches the look of my Northfield I'm getting from them. When does your's arrive? I can't wait to hear how you like it.

Have you modified your one-in / one-out policy lately, d? :))

Just finishing a plate of crow. All I can say is, "and suddenly there were three".
These last two, within a month, each so different in every way, but both exceptional in every way. And the mainstay Weber yellowstone, it's stalwart, it's foundation. It's ok and I've excepted it. I keep one in my locker at work, so one at home, and being the responsible person I am, keep a spare available. All that makes sense.......I think.......doesn't it?
Lol on me and my presets.
Oh, there's more. On the Collings trade, I ended up taking in a Gibson American Eagle LG2. I was planning to set it up and sell it, already had two buyers chomping for it. Received it monday, and goodness it's just really swell. It's going nowhere for the now. 3.6 lbs, beautiful woods, beautiful tone, setup is perfect, LR Baggs, fits great just sitting and playing.
I ordered some large pieces of tortoloid Tues as I'm planning to put a J-200 style PG on it.
It's a dreamy little guitar.
I'm just telling myself I'm getting set up for retirement.

Deb, it's here. It arrived overnite. I sent Dennis an email around 11am wed, it arrived around 1 pm thurs. Nashvegas is only 5 hrs away, and as anyone who knows Dennis, mold doesn't have a chance growing on that guy.
Bet you are having a really long weekend

Wow Daryl, you didn't tell me you had just ordered a new mandolin! So I ordered mine a day after yours? Well your mandolin looks fantastic and I think mine is going to be quite nice too. I just love the natural blonde wood on our mandolins! I am quite excited about mine, it should be here by 6 p.m. tomorrow!!! No more mandolins after this one, those little buggers aren't cheap.

Re: was looking at a mandolin for a friend, and this happens.....
I took the pledge a couple of years ago. My most recent trial:
I've always wanted a really nice ivory top A-3. One appeared at a store within driving distance a while back, and sat and sat. I was up there a couple of months ago on other business, picked it up and played it, and it was about the best sounding A-3 I've ever played. Hmmm.
2 or 3 weeks ago, they dropped the price. Uh-oh.
But right now, I already have an instrument on consignment, and it just won't sell. And their showroom is closed, and there's a lot of illness floating around in that neck of the woods. Good reasons to resist a little longer.
Well, somebody bought it a few days ago. Problem solved. Somebody got a real nice mandolin, and my bank account is intact.
That is, unless the buyer doesn't like the mandolin and returns it. Doubtful, but possible.
So far, I've somehow managed to stick to the pledge, except for the over-built Swedish Goya 12 string that I bought for $150 + shipping that is in the midst of a de-lumberization process. Now that my taxes are in, I'm ready to get back to my workbench and start making and glueing in the new braces and bridge plate. With a little luck, it'll turn out well and my very early D12-20 will be looking for a new home.

Darryl,
Did you look at your wife and say
“This little guy followed me home, if I had ever brought him in, somebody was gonna steal it!”
It worked for my wife’s son several times, I miss both of those cats!

Re: was looking at a mandolin for a friend, and this happens.....
just found this out a little while back, this was at the Winter Namm 2020 show, not that it would matter to me, just a neat thing to know.
here's Ryan, one of the luthiers attempting to play it while holding it standing up strapless.
