The Northfield "Big Mon" features a slightly enlarged F5 body, which produces a very rich, powerful sound. All Big Mon models feature premium grade tonewoods and a varnish finish -- and there's a noticeable difference in the openness of sound and projection they carry relative to a standard NF-5. If you've adventurous enough to push the boundaries of tradition, but you demand the woody power we've come to expect in a serious bluegrass mandolin, come in and check out Big Mon while he's still in stock! Priced with hard case.

Sweet, this is their vid, do they make them as an A style?
Re: Northfield F5 Master Model Big Mon (WIDE NUT)
I know a fairly well known professional musician who is keeping an eye on the market for an A version. Happens same day he asked, Carter Vintage sold one they'd had for awhile, and he was in Nashville. Go figure, just didn't see it there. This was this past Wednesday or Thursday I believe. I asked Adrian if he knew where one might be and he said they hadn't made A models in the Big Mon in awhile.
Re: Northfield F5 Master Model Big Mon (WIDE NUT)
I have an Ashbury Octave mandolin and love playing it capo at the fifth, or better still at the seventh fret (DAEB) which would be about the same scale length as a mando.
I really like this tone. Yes, it’s personal! :))
