Ella Recording
I had the honor of spending time with Ella a few months ago. For those folks who are unfamiliar with Ella, "she" is a black top A5 built by John Sullivan some years ago. One of the great mando players of our times recorded/toured with Ella to great acclaim. The current owner was kind in allowing me to spend a month or two recording Ella which was an absolute treat. As a means of illustrating how Ella sounds on a solo track I wanted to offer a tune/melody called Drops 'n Dew. I'm an average mando player but Ella is no average mandolin. Thanks.

Re: Ella Recording
Fine playing, and just love that mandolin's tone!

Re: Ella Recording
Hey thanks Kevin, Ella is a special A5. So playable and the reward of the richness of tone is very pleasing. Ella fits in a mix nicely as well.
(The 2nd mandolin is a Baird F5)

Re: Ella Recording
Thank you MarkusSpiel..my friend that allowed me access to Ella is another individual other than Mr. Marlin. Thanks for your kind comments.

Re: Ella Recording
My understanding is that it was on loan to Andrew from John's widow. Ella was John's personal mandolin.
Andrew owns another Sullivan, but it's an F5. You can hear it on their YouTube vid for 'Silver Dagger.'
