I used a lot of your suggestions to get this ole' Ajr back in great playing condition.
Back separation.....left it alone. It is stable.
Tuners.....installed stew...

Received my new June mandolin F#29. Amazing is all I can say. Fit, finish and sound are remarkable. Walter Johnson makes one fine mandolin at a fair price.
