On my first KM-1000, my friend scooped the extension for me. I had to look away! LOL! Congrats on having the brass to do it yourself!! :)

Hi Pete,
I saw your post and pictures of your KM-1500. Really nice. I Just traded for a 2013 KM-1500 that I believe is varnish as well. It is very thin and you can feel the Adirondack wood grain...
After watching dozens of amazing young players at IBMA this year, one thing is certain, Adam Steffey's style of playing is what almost all the blazing hot next generation are throwing down. He has...
"Here's a little tune I'd like to play while you clumsily strum the wrong chords out of time."
I hope not, I said terrible things about all of you in mine.
Well, got that done and thought I might as well post a pic to show that the "black tongue" can be turned into an area for decoration, for those so inclined.

Just wondering about this. The mandolins with "The Loar" affixed to the headstock.
What's up with that? A low budget line that usurps the name equivalent in the mandolin world to Stradivarius and...
Ah, the Kobayashi Maru.
Cheat, of course.
Oh, BlindBard.... stay in your happy place. Do not seek to be corrupted!
It warns people to get out of the way.
I know how: dramatically lower the bar for yourself.
Let me be the first to disagree with the wolfman. Maybe in years past, but I dont think what he said is true now. I have never played a Loar so no comment there, but Eastmans(even the md305) and...
I dunno, if he couldn't be bothered to paint it, I can't be bothered to scrape together $19K.
This one still blows my mind.
Try another battery, too. I've had "new" batteries fail before in photo gear, especially the less expensive ones.
Just a thought,

I do it the way pickinpete does it -- including the tailpiece part!
(I even know why he mentioned it. Kindred spirits?)
My hard and fast rule is that unless I'm getting paid enough to quit my day job, it had better be fun.
Sounds like it's not.
Any of the recordings by John Reischman and the Jaybirds. Cahalen Morrison and Eli West are good too, a little more of an old time feel.
I dunno. Pretty sure our focus shifted from assistance to amusement a while back ... :whistling:
I'll say it first (since others will for sure). Take that $1000 and buy a Kentucky KM900. A-Style, but head and shoulders above any F-Style at that price point.
well............... he did say the KM1000 was a good one! It seems I'm hearing about many other cafe Gibson owners going out and buying up KM900,1000,1500. Don't tell Gibson Co. that!
Yes. Cm pentatonic is more like the blues scale in C. I do not mean to use the relative minor, I would play the C minor pentatonic scale for the song the OP requested because it uses the bluesy notes...
I would recommend the D'Andrea pro-plec for any beginning mandolinist. IMHO they are the next best thing to the blue chips and wegens. You can get a dozen for 7 bucks on Amazon. That will last you...
Tennessee, Tennessee, ain't no place I'd rather be...
Actually I think the great thing with turnarounds is not to learn them at all, but to spontaneously generate them at the drop of a hat. It takes some considerable practice to do it, and it's closely...
