That seems to me the real reward of great music. Fame and fortune - not likely. Suddenly finding yourself standing in the presence of great and transcendent beauty - happens all the time. :)

That's a very nice piece, and some great mandocello playing! There aren't many mandocello concerti around, so this is a great one to revive.
