I just used fabric glue to secure a couple strips of Velcro in the corner of the case to secure my humidifier tube. Works fine to prevent flopping around.

If it's this Gator case, I got one a few months back and my Eastman 515 F-style fits nicely.

Sunday I purchased a Gator GL light weight mandolin case/gig bag, $99 at my local music store. I like the light weight gig bags, and the hard case that came with my new Eastman MD-514 just has no...
I recently got in one of the new Chris Thile signature mandolin picks from D'Addario (Model 2CA7-01CT), which are currently retailing for $25 apiece. That's fairly expensive for a single pick, but...
A lot of the great player talk about starting on gospel or other Christian hymn music. A good portion of the "rules" of Western music were formulated from early church music. So weather or not you...
Hi all - Unfortunately, the form of cancer that i have,Mesothelioma - is incurable. It can however be 'controlled' by chemotherapy, but to what extent, & for how long is an unknown,as it depends...
Ben's one of the good guys, I believe. Never met him in person (but I met his talented twin siblings at a Purple Hulls performance last year). Ben is a stellar talent (worked in Taylor Swift's...

I'm currently taking lessons from Banjo Ben through his website, and also from Joe Walsh and John Reischmann through Peghead Nation. My out-of-pocket costs for all three is $55 a month. I've taken...
Can't speak highly enough about Banjo Ben. Been a lifetime member for several years.
What I really like is the fact that most of his fiddle tunes have a "basic" version followed by a more...
Not asking for change. I have the freedom to walk away any time. I do get sidetracked learning guitar licks though.
Ben is a genuinely nice guy. He is very responsive to email. I just missed out getting in to his camp but I became a gold pick member and I really like his versions of some of the songs I already...
Hi all - Tomorrow,29th Feb.,i have an appointment with a cancer specialist at one of our top North of Engalnd hospitals. I expect to be told that i'll be having a course of Chemotherapy. How long...
I find that a little strange. I firmly believe that dollar value is never the whole story on instruments. I play $300 mandolins and have played $200,000 ones. I love finding real bargains like...
I understand your point Don. IMHO though, browsing with no real intent to buy is harmless and perfectly acceptable.
What I think is rude and totally unacceptable is browsing any brick and mortar...
In my experience, both stores are very generous in their time and encouragement to play things. Hats off to them both. Cotten is just as generous. Great shops!
I went to Carter's for the 1st time a few months ago. I was standing over in the "moderately priced ($2500-$6000)" mandolins fumbling my way through a few tunes (I am not a great picker and I tend to...
Many years ago when I was fairly young, I was very into photography. I lived in New York City then but there were some stores, in which if you wanted to look at a camera the sales person would ask...
As for playing but not buying... Stores that so willingly allow musicians to educate their ears and brains are doing a great service and hopefully developing future buyers! (and its a surprising...
For clarification, the handful of times I have gone to Carter and Gruhn, the store employees don't usually hover too much. And George Gruhn gave me an unscheduled hour-long tour/conversation/Loar...
Well, if it makes you feel a little better, you don't need to bother the employees to play most of the instruments on the wall at Carter's or Gruhn's unless you're wanting to play Loars.
Last time...
Howdy folks...spent all day at Carters and Gruhns yesterday. Cotten today. Mandolin tasting. I played almost everything in inventory, including three Loars( non Virzi) and a ‘31 Fern. Here are my...
The easy path will peter out. Work now helps prevent future backtracking or wandering.
I have the op. to drain the fluid around my right lung tomorrow which will be a big help. Right now i can hardly climb the stairs in my home without being totally out of breath. A biopsy sample will...
