    Re: Tuning up

There is nothing "wrong" with using a capo on a mandolin. Lots of scenarios where it makes sense. And I have been an advocate of painting the capo bright green so that everyone sees it. Don't be shy....

Just use a Capo. It's a tool that is available to you.

The BG police will get over it.

Pachelbel's Canon and Gigue in D

Bet you didn't know Canon in D had more to it, did you?

Point 1) the Canon isn't meant to be played as slow as it's represented in popular media. I literally can't listen to popular versions of...
  17. Yet another Pachelbel Canon in D version

I know lockdown is getting bad when Canon in D starts to seem interesting again. So I have had a shot at it with 2 mandolin parts. I originally planned more but the predominance of treble was...

    Re: Seagull S8 Owners Thread

  22. Re: Ale Brider (a Yiddish folk tune) [on Red Valley Mandolin]

    Nice playing.

The lighting's a little dark so I'll say those RV's are really nice instruments, fit/finish/sound/action and anything else-wise. I've tried a few Red Valley's at the Seattle dealer,...
