I have watched this a few times.
He is often underrated by the general public - but most musicians know how talented he is.

I had shared this already on other sites--missed this one (Been away for a while I guess)

NAMM Oddities was ready sooner than any other edition since I started checking it out.

Is there a reason it can't be both?

Lots of great info & tips here though.

This was up real soon after January's NAMM show & I did mention this on other forums (Yes there are others)

As a guitar player--I definitely hear the difference.

And I like it because I am not playing "Traditional" or "Typical" mandolin styles.

I just like the sound...

Wow the 2017 version wasn't up until 2018--but the 2018 version is here...
I look forward to seeing what new oddities are posed each year, and it is this site more than any other that most makes me...

So here are some fine oddities from the 2017...

Some good advice--but since the mandolin is in a different range than the guitar even if you play the same chords in the same rhythm it will sound different, but that's okay.

Still good advice...

Thanks--the same group of guys--plus a harmonica player did a blues song a few months earlier at a goodbye party for a family we all...

I hold the pick a bit differently depending on what am playing--speed, technique, style of music, etc.
I would encourage a beginner to try different ways.
A seasoned player who has ever only held...

It's a fun site showing the odd things seen at NAMM--it could be a new product, something that looks unusual, suits an unusual purpose, an odd display or just seems...

Thanks for all the responses so far--some interesting input--and I agree with almost all of it.

There is room in music for old & new--and you can plug in where you like--but I wouldn't put down...

I only have one--but then I have been playing mandolin for less than 2 years and I also play guitar & bass-so I have other choices to play.
I consider myself primarily a guitar player, then a bass...
