Re: John Paul Jones on American tv

As already mentioned it was a Canadian TV show--(I am Canadian)

I have watched this a few times.
He is often underrated by the general public - but most musicians know how talented he is.

  5. Re: A likely contentious opinion on electric mandolins

    That's fine-your choice that way.
As a guitar player--I definitely hear the difference.

And I like it because I am not playing "Traditional" or "Typical" mandolin styles.

    I just like the sound...

Re: How does playing mando with guitar work?

Some good advice--but since the mandolin is in a different range than the guitar even if you play the same chords in the same rhythm it will sound different, but that's okay.

    Still good advice...

Re: One year with a mandolin...

Well I don't have any plans that way--but it could be fun.

Thanks--the same group of guys--plus a harmonica player did a blues song a few months earlier at a goodbye party for a family we all...
  13. Re: There is no right way to hold a pick. There is only your way.

I hold the pick a bit differently depending on what am playing--speed, technique, style of music, etc.
I would encourage a beginner to try different ways.
A seasoned player who has ever only held...

NAMM Oddities 2016 is finally here

Just beating the end of the year.
