    There are no Loar-signed A4 or F4 Gibson mandolins. A4 and F4 from that period generally sell for above non-Loar period instruments, but not significantly so - except for the Snakehead A4 or the A2Z...

    Bad. The original pickguard would have been clamped and been more of a tortoiseshell color. Screwed pickguards didn't appear until the Loar era.

    It's a 1917 A4. The white pickguard is probably off an A3. Is that pickguard clamped on the side or is it screwed into it? There's another A4 with that FON number and its SN is 42866. Check A4's...
