Steve aka Bogle was a dear friend. I learned so much from talking to him about instruments and playing music together. I'm glad to have acquired one of his mandolins, a Ratcliff Silver Angel...
So sorry to see this -- condolences to his many friends, family and those who only knew him through the cafe.
Sympathies to Bogle's family and friends, and to all of his fellow members here on the cafe.
I remember his posts and him being a Brentrup fan as well. Sincere condolences to Cheryl and the rest of his friends and family.
Hi Scott, yes, Bogle, or as I called him, Steve, absolutely loved the Mandolin Cafe and appreciated all you do for the mandolin community.
So sorry to hear of the passing of Bogle, and I too send my sympathies to you, Cheryl.
Always saddened to learn of a member's passing. Looks like he last checked in late November, 2022 after 14 years with us. Rest in peace.
Sorry to hear about your friend. May his memory be a blessing.
Sorry that you, and we, have lost a friend and comrade.
I've wondered that if (when) I was to die, no-one would inform the forum.
I would just fade away...
I'm very sorry for your loss.
Jamie
I remember him fondly. He was a great Brentrup devotee. Sorry for your loss, Cheryl.
Sorry about the loss. The world needs more kindness.
It is with great sadness that I let you all know that Mandolin Cafe member, "Bogle", passed away the morning of January 10th, 2023. Bogle was a close friend of mine and truthfully, he was like a...
BTW, the boards I started with are North Carolina red spruce, cut about 30 miles from here up near Bryson City. I sourced them from The Hampton Brothers- the coolest young guys in the tonewood...
Some very good friends of mine have been getting excellent results in their instrument builds using some variation of the torrefaction process whereby they basically cook the wood for specific times...
Moving is hard work; as me how I know;)
Craig, glad to have you on this side of the country.
Loudon County! That's "God's country" right there. Just beautiful there.
Keep your eyes and ears peeled for Ted Davis' work.
This 2002 Brentrup 23V with an Italian spruce top showed up on Friday. I think it will take care of my scroll fever for quite some time. I've gone through more mandolins than I can remember ,...
Look forward to the pics!
Congrats and enjoy! Craig builds 'em right!
I just acquired the above mentioned mandolin, and it's an outstanding instrument, punching FAR above it's weight in tone, volume and overall fit and finish. I'll try to post some pictures and video...
West Coast luthier Craig Wilson also builds his WA-5 Griffith Loar replica. I will have the pleasure of test driving one in the next couple weeks.
