I recently recorded this short slow bluegrass-style tune. I am showing pictures I have taken in the mountains of West Virginia.
The tune is me on guitar and...
I only have it on CD, but have always considered it a great album with an astounding lineup.
I found the MD-615 to have a warmer, clear tone that I liked. I also preferred the feel of playing it better than the Loar. The Loar was good, but the Eastman was a definite step up.

I upgraded three years ago from a beginner level instrument to an Eastman 615 F-Style and I am very glad I did. I tried several in that price range with the assistance of the fine folks at Pickers...
I think a well-played mandolin can add to almost any musical situation...
I thought it was obviously "an attempt at humor"...in fact, I laughed.
sounds like you need to just take the time to just get started and learn as you go. There are many resources online and in print on strumming patterns and how to read tablature. If you spend time...
For some, Social Distancing was already a way of life...
congratulations. With all that is bad about this Coronavirus situation, at least you have time to spend enjoying your new instrument.
Even if I could afford one, I wouldn't spend that much.
We are in Southwest Florida and the weather has been great, so I have taught my lessons outside under the cabana 6 feet apart.
Because I feel as though I am slowly yet constantly improving as a player, that perhaps the improved sound is the result of better "tone" I get through improved technique rather than the instrument...
A Bluegrass History was excellent. He also wrote Bluegrass: A History and that is fabulous!
I only have one mandolin. I am primarily a guitar player and I have just one acoustic guitar; however, I do have a handful of electric guitars and I do rotate them regularly because I love them all....
I use Audio Technica 4040s in the studio but will sometimes plug it into my Fender Acoustasonic jr. and mic that as well, blending the two sounds.
they are one of my new favorites.
A big thank you to all who have served our country and made it possible for us to spend time learning to play the mandolin.
Guitar is my main instrument having played it over 40 years. Mandolin, bass and piano all come in second.
That is a good photo, Caleb. Thanks for sharing.
The smile on your face in the first video posted says it all...enjoy.
I agree with Randi. When I was teaching guitar lessons, most if it came from word of mouth, but it started with putting a notice up on a bulletin board. I also played instrumentally at wine...
I love the self-portrait, Harrison! And the woman playing mandolin, Gertz! Very nice work...I'm going to have to get my drawing pad and box of pencils back out now.
