After making many cylinder top guitar bouzouki, this last year I've had many orders for a Sobell style guitar bouzouki. The soundboards are much more in line with what I made with Stefan in the 90s...

Continuing my mandolin exploration of traditional Christmas music, here is my latest arrangement: O Come, O Come Emmanuel for solo octave mandolin. This is probably one of my absolute favorite...
A tune of mine called Hamlel played fingerstyle on an Irish bouzouki (in GDAE tuning) made by Gladstone Guitars.

I decided to give this tune a go, and in the process of experimenting with it, came up with this somewhat unique version. Pretty untraditional, but hopefully enjoyable to listen to.
(Yeah, yeah,...
This is beautiful too, freshly released ...

I did play both the F hole and oval hole at Grey Fox this year, both were great but I was very impressed with that particular oval, had so much punch and sustain.
I think they really did deliver...
A recent build that will be heading out to England soon.

About a year ago, I found a website called musescore.com. It has thousands - maybe hundreds of thousands, of scores available. I have searched across many genres - Irish, Scottish, bluegrass, French...
Here's a cheerful mandolin rendition of "The Girl I Left Behind" which I know as "The Girl I Left Behind Me." The band is "Mighty Maples." I know nothing about them other than that their album...
Sympathies to Bogle's family and friends, and to all of his fellow members here on the cafe.
I remember his posts and him being a Brentrup fan as well. Sincere condolences to Cheryl and the rest of his friends and family.
Steve Dennison AKA: "Charles Bogle" (WC Fields fans will know) or affectionately as "Bogle" to his friends, had been my close friend of over 50 years, about 35 of which as bandmates in at least 3...
Always saddened to learn of a member's passing. Looks like he last checked in late November, 2022 after 14 years with us. Rest in peace.
Peace be with you, family and friends.
Sorry to hear about your friend. May his memory be a blessing.
Sorry that you, and we, have lost a friend and comrade.
I've wondered that if (when) I was to die, no-one would inform the forum.
I would just fade away...
Sorry about the loss. The world needs more kindness.
It is with great sadness that I let you all know that Mandolin Cafe member, "Bogle", passed away the morning of January 10th, 2023. Bogle was a close friend of mine and truthfully, he was like a...
I'll keep repeating the same advice. No matter which of my fretted instruments I'm talking about - mandolin, mandola, octave mandolin, mandocello, guitar - when the question is strings, the answer...
Hi Everyone,
I kinda' wish I named my previous thread about blues mandolin simply "Blues Mandolin - Let's Hear Ya!." That way, it can become a depository for anyone who's working on this approach....
I don't claim to be a mandolin player, but I love the sound of the instrument. Here is an instrumental featuring my sweetheart, a 1917 Gibson A4.

Perhaps I'm undemanding, but I think Tabledit is as good as it gets for that kind of software.
I use the midi function. Better than practising with a metronome.
That is a beautiful composition and amazing filming, Teri. Thanks for posting.
Lovely tune, beautiful cinematography :)
