Ralph is a great guy.
Ralph is a great guy.
There would have always been that bit of guilt following that instrument, which would have taken away a lot of the enjoyment. Doing the right thing is always best. Congrats on a great instrument!
Good to hear Scott. I'll be stringing my LaPlant with these soon.
That back is stunning!
Danke Michael!
I'll never sell my LaPlant. Great mandolin, but it's also the fact that Lloyd LaPlant is one of the nicest humans I've met.
Went to see him play last Saturday. Looked like he was playing a old Gibson Pumpkin top A just like the one I have-pretty neat!
I would love to try one of these out, but my mandolin has a varnish finish and they advise not to use it with varnish.
Lloyd is an inspiration in so many ways.
Hoping to hear that one someday. Congrats!
I can't speak to Jerry's course, but David Benedict has a series of beginner lessons on Youtube that take you from the very beginning and moves up step by step. Very good IMO.
Here is Crossrock's response on why they cancel my Facebook Store order (I ordered yellow):

What’s worse, due to continuous rising cost of raw materials, the...
Well,
I took a chance and ordered one from Facebook. Hope it's the five Latch.
I'll let everyone know when it arrives.
I've been very impressed with this stuff. Conditions and cleans the fretboard and polishes the frets.

Steve built an F style for me and it's a really nice mandolin. He seems to always find really nice looking wood. Fit and finish are not to the level of the uber pricey mandos, but I had an early...
Fantastic. I feel like I could spend a lifetime getting that “slidey stuff” down.
I saw them at First Avenue in Minneapolis-fantastic show. Andrew is one of my favorite pickers.

So I'm finally back on my feet after breaking my heal and was able to get some outside shots of my Ratliff. It's in good shape for a '97- just a wee bit of honest wear. ...
Here is what's been working for me lately. I use the common chop chords as a home base and find notes around that chord form to play off of. Niles Hokkanen's book "Bluegrass Up the Neck" and Joe...
A pre owned, new to me 1997 Ratliff that I bought from Morgan Music should arrive tomorrow. The salesman said it's a monster. Can't wait to join the Ratliff fold. I'll post pics soon. :)
Monday night just got a whole lot better. The movie "Grateful Dawg" is now available on the Crackle channel via Roku.
You could give the Pickin Parlor a try:
