Re: Acquisition Syndrome . . . or Crisis?

From Mike Zito - "Is MAS/GAS, etc. a 'Syndrome' for the few - or a 'Crisis' for the many ?". If you don't have the cash - it's neither !.

I think that with musical instruments, most players...

    Re: Mandolins for Bluegrass Music

F-hole mandolins tend to have a sharper attack and quicker decay of the sound. This works well for the ubiquitous bluegrass off-beat mandolin "chop." When playing lead on mandolin breaks, overall...

    Re: Mandolins for Bluegrass Music

I used a Weber 'Beartooth' "A" style oval hole to play Bluegrass until it developed a warped neck. I did also have a Weber "Fern" "F" style as well, but the Beartooth was a hellishly powerful...

    Re: Mandolins for Bluegrass Music

F holes are better for bluegrass. Doesn't matter if the body style is A or F.

Still, you can play perfectly fine bluegrass on an oval hole mandolin if you really want to, and many have.

    Re: Tennis elbow

When you do play, make sure the elbow rests vertically from your shoulder, gently touching your side. Don't reach around the mandolin to play which puts the muscles in the upper arm under tension,...

  12. Re: New mandolin strap design from Pinegrove Leather UK.

Hi Ray - The new strap is of course wider to accomodate the thong. If asked,i'm sure Rod would produce a strap similar to the one that i bought years ago, about 3/4" wide, narrowing down to 1/2" to...

Re: How to get that sweet tone?
