- Started my musical life as a tenor sax player in high school, doing the school band and orchestra, eventually doing bar work for a couple of years. Took piano lessons at Peabody Prep in Baltimore (I don't play piano in years). Took up the mandolin in 1985. I joined the Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra in 1986.
