Played folk since 1970, learned fiddle tunes from my Grandfather in the Ulster-Scots tradition of Northern Ireland, and now play guitar, bouzouki, octave mandola, mandola, waldzither, gazuki, bodhran, whistle and hurdy-gurdy. Back in the 1970s and 1980s I played with a lot of good, now famous, musicians (but work got in the way…), I nowadays play with one or two folk groups or collectives, record as a session musician or with friends on their albums, and compose simple little tunes, jigs and reels for the fun of hearing them on CD. I never stopped learning and probably never will - I recently started clarinet after bringing Ulster-Scots folk music to Greece, and learning their tunes in return. I have a great sense of humour and believe that life’s too short to take it seriously… :)
Play music, swap tunes, and have fun together, and keep politics out of it.
