I may be a little late on this one - but I recently stumbled across several Roland White videos on You Tube, where he demonstrates some alternate chord formations, as well as giving advice on things like chop, tremolo, picks, strings, etc. - and even shows easy arrangements on some songs. If you go to You Tube and simply type in 'Roland White Mandolin', you should be able to find them pretty easily - and in my opinion is that they are well worth the few minutes it takes to watch them. Good basic stuff without being overly simplistic. Hope this helps.
I'm surprised at you for mentioning his stature! "Short Roland White"? Thanks for sharing, I've seen some of those. Very helpful stuff.
(laugh) I didn't even think of the 'short' adjective . . . but being somewhat 'height challenged' myself, I have probably grown immune to the whole situation. Anyhow, I like the way Roland teaches and explains - very casual, relaxed and seeming to very well understand that not everyone is a mandolin protegee; but not talking down to the viewers either. Seems like the kind of guy who would be very easy to talk to, one-on-one.
