These are two waltzes written by Danish musician Janet Vahl, both learned from the great Spillefolk site and both played with the same instrumentation, two mandolins and tenor guitar: Mid-Missouri M-0W mandolin (x2) Vintage Viaten tenor guitar Kirstens 50er (Kirsten's 50th birthday) https://www.spillefolk.dk/nodesamlin...f?t=1179771785 Nordstjernen (The North Star Waltz) https://www.spillefolk.dk/nodesamlin...f?t=1179771818 Martin
Prolific output, Martin. Four in a day. Difficult even to keep up with comments, never mind your posting rate! Lovely playing as usual, and great arrangements.
Nice roll you have going there Martin. Great tune too.
Thanks, Simon and John. I like Janet Vahl as a tune writer -- she also wrote "Mira Mare", which I've previously recorded. The two tunes here are quite different: the birthday waltz is lively and uptempo and the North Star Waltz has a contemplative slow air quality. Martin
Two nice waltzes played with taste and fine technique.
Is it a coincidence that the Nordstjernen waltz is beginning to sound like Christmas? You're obviously enjoying your music, Martin, and I wish you the same for many years to come.
Thanks, Dennis and Christian. Dennis: Yes, the tune does sound rather Christmassy -- I may record some actual seasonal tunes soon, now that we're in advent. Martin
