Happy to join this wonderful group. I'm new to Mandolin , but have played fiddle, guitar and bass for 50 years. I'm interested in both learning how to play and build as I've been a luthier for 20 years, limited to the electric side. I fell in love with the woods on the Weber Metolius F14 and the adventure begins..
Hey Papa - welcome aboard. Given your previous experience, I have no doubt that you will catch on before long - both as a player and builder. Play, learn, enjoy and keep us posted.
Hi and Welcome, papalobo. Me, I have been limited to the eccentric side, and way more than 20 years. Is this like your metolius? https://webermandolins.com/mandolins...imited-edition. It really looks nice. I have often wondered how myrtle would do as a tonewood. When you're ready, post a clip. I am definitely a Weber person, but not exclusively.
Papalobo, huh? Lobo as in New Mexico?
Whatever it means , welcome Papalobo.
I've also been intrigued with myrtle as a tonewood - I remember Mike Doolin, a great former builder out of Portland, really liked it. It also smells good when you're sanding it! Welcome paplobo, enjoy the journey. We're all here to help.
