Pietro Mascagni: Intermezzo, from "Cavalleria Rusticana" (1890) This short but very atmospheric piece of incidental music from Mascagni's one-act opera Cavalleria Rusticana is a classical standard and has been widely used as film music, e.g. in "Raging Bull" and "The Godfather III". This is a reduction to two mandolins and (tenor) guitar, based on an anonymous mandolin quartet arrangement from our group repertoire. 1898 Giuseppe Vinaccia mandolin (x2) Vintage Viaten tenor guitar https://youtu.be/VzAjmGbO9xA Martin
I enjoyed this piece Martin. It sounds beautiful on your bowlback with nice even tremolo and dynamics in the presentation.I don't think I have ever played that high before. Perhaps that is why you are using the mandolin you have there. Is it best for doing that?
A nice piece of mandolin music, me too, I enjoyed it, Martin.
Thanks, Ginny and Christian. It's a classic piece, and suits the mandolin well. The most difficult part is keeping the tempo slow -- I kept taking it too fast. Martin
