    Thank you for these great French tunes, Simon! They're such a welcome addition to the musical vocabulary of this group, and I look forward to every new recording. Those great-sounding church bells are back again as well. I really do love that sound. Our church bells don't sound as nice as that.

    The bells have always there Dennis. The difference is that in a lot of the previous recordings I would delete the clip every time the bells intruded, now I just carry on playing all the way through. I like the tone of them at the moment -the tone does actually vary a lot over the year.

    I like the French tunes for their melodic simplicity. I play a lot of them with swing which I guess I shouldn’t -the Oom, pah, pah rhythm is more prevalent and I think they sound better when played by a diverse gaggle of acoustic instruments.
