This week's winner is Old Apple Blossom, which was submitted as an Old Time tune. I may need some help here... I'm finding information on a tune called Apple Blossom, but not Old Apple Blossom. Here's a link to the notation to Apple Blossom on abcnotation.com Here's a You Tube video of a tune Apple Blossom, on a mountain dulcimer So... if anyone out there can help us out on this, please do!!!
Yes, I could find nothing even on iTunes for a tune called Old Apple Blossom. But Apple Blossom is a great tune.
Have to admit i voted for it thinking it was apple blossom ot tune, heres a version i found and like: http://youtu.be/yvlK3ajmS7U
It surely could have been suggested as Apple Blossom, and I inadvertently added the OLD to the name of the tune! Let's go with that!
Here's an abc based on the dulcimer version above: X: 1 T:Old Apple Blossom M:4/4 L:1/8 K:D |:A,B,DEF2DE|F2DE FEDB,|A,B,DEF2DE|FED2B,4| A,B,DEF2DE|F2DEFED2|d2B2AFE2|EFE2D4:| |:FA2FA2AF|AFAB AFED|GB2GB2BG|AFAB AFED| FA2FA2AF|AFAB AFED|B2Bcd2B2|AFE2D4:|
Here's Apple Blossom as played by an old time fiddler. It's the same tune that the dulcimer plays above.
Can't believe I am the first to post for this one. I looked at a couple of scores and listened to the videos above and then made up my own tune loosely based on them. Left my trademark klinker in there too for extra colour.
Hi Woodenfingers, that's really enjoyable.
I agree. Very nice playing, Bob. Your ornamentation gives the melody a lot of character.
Yes, that's a really nice interpretation. Here's the ABC from the version on Mandozine, which is also a good arrangement: X:1 T:Apple Blossom C:Traditional Texas Fiddle Tune N:TablEdited by Mike Stangeland L:1/8 Q:420 M:4/4 K:D z8 |: "D"fa zf/a/ f2 ff | fa fe df ed | "Bm"fb zf a3f | bf af ed Bd | "D"(3ABc de fa bf | af ed BA FA | "G"Bd BA FB AF | "A7"ED B,G, "D"A,D z2 :|: "D"FA3 A3A | BA FA Bc dB | "Bm"DD FD EF DF | "A7"EF EC A,C EC | "D"DD FD AF DF | "Bm"BA FA Bc dB | "G"[eA][fB] z2 fa fe | "A7"dB AG "D"FD z2 :| z8 | z8 |
That was very nice, not so woodenfingers Here is my last minute attempt: I have corrected the video problem. Hope it is in sync.
