It was a really sad day last FridY. I played my A5 X Thursday folded the strap and put the mandolin back into the case. The next day when I opened the case and began to warm up at home before going to a gig, I notice it sound really good and thought T almost a year (purchased on 7/29/13) it was really opening up. Yes it was I notice a 2 1/2" crack off the bass side F hole. It REALLY OPENED UP. The best I can determine is the strap was pinching the dog ear and pres in when the latches pull the top of the case down. I emailed Kyle at The Mando Shop and he said he has seen cracks like mine from pressing on the F holes and did not believe it was a warranty defect. All I really know is no crack when I put it in case, did not move the case, stayed in closet and no one else home rest of family on a trip. The mandolin is at a local shop for assessment and possible repair
