Hello all- new2u and all that
have been 'playing' for a year or so- having good fun- can get through 1007 with increasing pleasure levels ... have now watched Eva Holbrook's "Tuscany" once too often ... no, I'm not looking for tabs. But, having watched her do it with such ease, would dearly love to get above Fret 5 ... yes, it does happen occasionally with 1007, but I'd like to live more up there. So I'm looking fo suggestions (Bach or not) that 'work up the neck' more. Also web refs to fingering patterns up there- I could search it out, but have no clue what to call such things, which makes searching somewhat problematic.

My instrument is a Stradolin of unknown date, from which I've removed pick guard and tailpiece cover (the latter having had enormous effects on tone).

    Hope you can help :-)

May I suggest anything from Bach's Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin?

The Prelude of the E Major Partita, for example, seems to match what you're looking for.

I generally try to work out my own fingerings and strategizing the shifting. You can get lots of edited versions for violin but often it is only the opinion of the editor and may be better suited for violin vs. mandolin. I usually prefer the urtext versions. Bach did not write fingerings as far as I know, even for the string pieces.
