Dear Diary readers It is two days short of me playing the mandolin for exactly 10 months. I shall take my mandolin to Durban SA this week to give a short concert for some friends. I look forward to that. Repertoire includes: Luca Suzanne Vega; Wonderful Life Collin Veancomb; I have a dream Abba; Meddley with "music" in the title of three songs; I'm with you: Avril Lavigne; I've saved the world today: Annie Lenox; When I fall in love: Rick Astley/Selen Dion; Nat King Cole; Yesterday: Beatles: though someone will need to do the singing there; I look forward to this session! The mandolin has changed my life. Yesterday I went to purchase a soft cloth and a few more picks from the local music store. Also to have a custom made bag for my crafter. I took both my mandolins to show the store owner different sizes of mandolins. The store owner asked me to play. I gave a short performance. This was followed by him asking for a short lesson on playing the mandolin. I showed him G D and C major. Have you just imagined how sweet the shop sounded with two mandolins strumming sweetly together! Here's to the healing power of music on the mandolin! Happy playing all!
