This is a brief Fantasia for three instruments, written by Josquin des Prez (1450-1521) and transcribed for a consort of three viols by Albert Folop. Score and parts available from IMSLP at:

    Recorded on:

    Treble: 1915 Luigi Embergher mandolin
    Tenor: Mid-Missouri M-111 octave mandolin
    Bass: Mid-Missouri M-111 octave mandolin

While the lowest part is marked "bass" on the score, it's actually written in mandola range and doesn't go below the low C of the mandola. I guess it could be played an octave lower on mandocello, but I don't have one of those.

Josquin's music is invariably strange and fascinating compared to other music of the period, and this one is no exception -- everything fits together nicely for an overall effect way beyond the sum of the three parts.
