    Hi all

An absolute newbie on this forum I should not speak too much as I can learn a thing or two about the technicalities of tuning.

    - though harmonies, chords, and how we arrive there, (eventually by the path of our tuned instrument), really does fascinate me.

I should share my first alternative tuning I came across was when a IsiZulu friend (isizulu one of our eleven population groups in SA) asked me to tune his guitar. It was suddenly near impossible, as the guitar was tuned to something different from the Western tuning, or rather that which I know, is it G D and other of fifths?

But incorrect use of technical terms aside for the moment, I realised that his guitar was tuned for their music (bacanga), also (Maskandi) So really alternative tuning for music of a different genre! What an interesting forum this is!
