    hey there!

I"m new new new to the mandolin (I've only been playing a couple of weeks). I was seduced by a recording king resonator mandolin in a local shop but am now realizing this doesn't make a good primary instrument. So i'm in the market for something else but we only have one music store locally and they don't have a very good selection. I"m looking for an entry level kentucky. Can anyone point me in the direction of some online shops?

    thanks!

and here's the Twelfth Fret in TO, http://www.12fret.com/content/catego...nts/mandolins/

Mike Brooks in Victoria, Mandolirius here on the 'cafe, might be able to help you out as far as local resources on the island are concerned, he teaches so he might point you in the right direction in finding a good beginners instrument. Good hunting,

thanks mike! i've ended up being too impatient to shop locally and have ordered a kentucky from folkmusician. Can't wait for it to get here! that said if you know of any good resources for strings, picks etc that would be great. all we have in town is one teeny tiny long & mcquade store, sucks having to mail order everything but would be great if i had canadian sources and didn't have to worry about duty.

What town are you in? I think that the Stringman may be of the most use to you. Good luck to you and have fun playing.
