This is a six part 2/4 pipe march composed by Angus Mackay. It is a popular competition piece among pipers, accordionists and fiddlers and outside the competition circles it is often reduced to a four part tune. It is rare to find marches having six parts, most generally having two or four. All six make it an interesting competition test. My version is played on my octave mandolin with guitar backing on my Lowden O-32. https://youtu.be/zyWMEkE9COA
That's so fun I can just picture a group of soldiers starting to, "Frollick about". What would they wear? You really presented this well!
Very nicely done, John…I shall no doubt try that on the OM at some point.
Nice to hear, fine playing and also nice of you to propose a challenging tune in six parts John. And I imagine you’ll be clearing the ferns this summer?
Fine playing on a fine sounding instrument, John!
Thanks for your support, gents. Always appreciated. We had a go at this one at last night's session, but kept to the four parts only.
