  7. Barbara Shultz
    Barbara Shultz
Ok, I've added those three to the list I'm working from (which is on page 1 of this thread). Kyle, what genre is The Frost is All Over?

Genre.... please include that with the name of the tune. I try to offer up a variety of genre in each poll, so including it with the tune helps me do that....

Kyle... are you one of the 3 sons that our new member, Jim Baker, calls his own?
  8. Eddie Sheehy
The Frost is All Over (Slan le Sioc) is an Irish Jig - Planxty recorded it with words...
"The praties are dug and the frost is all over
Kitty lie over close to the wall.
How would you like to be married to a soldier?
Kitty lie over close to the wall."

However that is really Kitty Lie Over/Paddy's Return.

This is the Comhaltas version: http://comhaltas.ie/music/detail/frost_is_all_over/

There is also an old English Country-Dance tune - Frost is All over (The American Dwarf).

There are three Shovels... Take your Pick

Stuche, thanks for those suggestions. Liberty was week #10, Temperance Reel was week #28, and Little Beggar Man (Red Haired Boy) was week #43! I can't remember about Bonaparte, we've got him crossing the Rhine on week #53, but I seem to remember when researching that, it's a slightly different tune when he crosses the Rocky Mountains?

May I suggest tunes I already know but which work really well on mandolin? I realize we're really here to learn tunes we don't already know, but these are really fun to play.

El Cumbanchero (Latin originally, but there are versions in many styles from reggae, to Homer and Jethro, to bluegrass)
    Well, You Needn't (jazz)
    Please Please Me (Beatles)

Thanks for all the recent suggestions. I've added them into the master list. You may suggest tunes for any reason! You may already know them, but think that others would like to try them, or you'd like to see how many variations there are! Keep em coming!
