This is a set of two reels: "The New Rigged Ship" is from Shetland and commonly played as a set with the jig "The Full-Rigged Ship" (SAW tune in Week #373). However, I am playing it with the Irish reel "The Boys Of Malin", from the very north of Donegal (Malin Head is Ireland's most northerly point). I have added octave mandolin harmonies arranged by Peter Macfarlane/Vermont Fiddle Orchestra: https://cvsfc.org/VFOtunes/2022Apr/N...Malin-Lead.pdf https://cvsfc.org/VFOtunes/2022Apr/N...in-Harmony.pdf Mid-Missouri M-0W mandolin Mid-Missouri M-111 octave mandolin Vintage Viaten tenor guitar https://youtu.be/tR0mx5HjI6k Martin
Fine playing, Martin. The harmonies by Peter Macfarlane sound great in your arrangement.
Nice set, Martin.
Thanks, John and Frithjof. I enjoyed the combination of these two tunes. The A part of The Boys Of Malin flows very naturally on from the B part of The New Rigged Ship, despite the different musical traditions. Martin
