RM1 hotplate output quite low?

    Hi all,
    I have the RM1 with a hotplate.
Does anyone find the output from the hotplate pickup quite low?

It works, but I really have to crank up the volume on the amp to make it loud enough. It can then be heard but the volume is way up.
I have swapped the hotplate thanks to the great help provided by National, but the output is the same on the new one.
It feels more like the hotplate warms up the sound than really makes it loud enough to play with a full on electric band.

I’ve just bought an Electro Harmonix LPB-1 pedal to give the input signal a boost. Will let you know how that goes.

(And this relates to my other post about which amps people use with the RM1 + hotplate.

    Thanks

    Hi,
    No nickel strings.
I did have bronze originally but changed to nickel.
    Same problem.

If you’ve had the same problem with two different hot plates, it suggests to me that your issue is either with the amp or the lead you’re using to connect it. I’ve never used a hot plate but I’ve not heard similar complaints.
