Matthew Camidge (1758-1844): Gavotte in A minor. From: Six concertos for Organ, Op. 13 Originally from an organ solo in a concerto. Matthew Camidge was organist at York Minster from 1799 to 1842, a post hereditary to his family for 103 years. A prolific composer, this gavotte is now probably his best-known piece. Arranged for two mandolins and guitar by Andy Boden: http://www.andyboden.com/index_html_files/Camidge.zip We have played Andy's arrangement with our group ever since he first posted it here on the Cafe in 2012, and it's just a highly-satisfying piece to play on mandolins. Andy's arrangement is also reprinted in the (highly recommended) book "Exploring Classical Mandolin - Technique & Repertoire" by August Watters. 1898 Giuseppe Vinaccia mandolin (x2) Suzuki MC-815 mandocello Martin
Lovely tune and great choice of instruments and arrangement. Andy Boden has done some very fine arrangements, Martin.
Simply great!
This sounds wonderful Martin. I especially like the sound you get out of your Vinaccia and your decision to use it. Its sound is like that of a harpsichord.
Thanks, all! It's a long-time favourite tune of mine and especially good as an ensemble piece. Martin
