The Nutting Girl

This is a traditional English morris dance tune and song. I first heard it many years ago on the classic "Morris On" album, played together with the related "A-Nutting I Will Go".

My instrumental recording on mandolin and tenor guitar is based on Paul Hardy's tunebook:

    Mid-Missouri M-0W mandolin
    Vintage Viaten tenor guitar

Yes really nice Martin, and I like those old photos. And thanks for the Pdf/Book -I wasn’t aware that he had updated to 2019.
(I believe Paul Hardy also has a book of TAB somewhere on his site too)

Good find, Martin. Well performed as so often.
The photographs of poor families are sure thought-provoking ...

Thanks, Ginny, Simon and Frithjof. It's a very catchy tune and fun on mandolin.

Firthjof: The photos are somewhere between accidental and serendipidous. The song is about a young peasant girl out picking nuts (with the usual folk song double entrendres), so I was looking for old paintings or photos of peasant girls picking nuts. There aren't many of those, but the search brought up some old photos of families shelling nuts for money in their homes as well as some photos of young girls picking cotton, so I threw those in as well.

Great mando tones! Makes me also want to try this tune.

Another fine effort, Martin. The instruments go so well together.
