This waltz was written by the Canadian flautist Chris Norman (not to be confused with the ex-Smokie singer), and is named after a landmark of Quebec City, the mock-medieval Chateau Frontenac Hotel, which is turn is named after a 17th century French Governor General of Canada. This is very nice Martin. I have been to the Chateau Frontenac a few times and did know it had a song affiliated to it. Louis De Baude, Count of Frontenac, was the Governor General of New France (now Quebec) in the 1600's. The pictures are very good and apt for the tune.

Thanks, Ginny and Frithjof. I came across this tune by chance when I downloaded the tunebook for the "Rose of Tralee" transcription. I wasn't familiar with it, but liked it on a playthrough and when I listened to a few examples online. It also seems to be played as a piano solo piece, but I think it's nicer as a folky flute or fiddle tune. Martin
