Cruden Bay

This is a tune written by top Scottish traditional fiddler Amy Geddes. Amy was inspired to write the tune while she was strolling along the beach at Cruden Bay in Aberdeenshire and became aware of the rhythmic motion of the tide coming up the beach.
I learned the tune from Amy at a mixed instrument workshop she ran here at home for the Lochgoilhead Fiddle Workshop in Strachur in March this year. Among the many fiddles we also had a viola, accordions and my guitar and mandolin.
My version is on mandolin and guitar and the pictures were taken a long way from Cruden Bay - over on the west coast of Scotland on the Kintyre peninsula at Westport, so apologies for poetic licence, swapping the North Sea for the Atlantic!

That tune is singing in the rain, and I somehow picture Bing Crosby dancing along with it. Very uplifting!
