Let's post some vids of us playing our Poes or Driftwood mandos. Here's Bach Cello Suite Prelude on a Poe Mandola. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmRk-3w3O3g
Nice picking Nate. Will we be hearing you play some new Poes in the near future?
Indeed! I just spoke to Andy yesterday. He's got a batch that is almost done, a couple Fs and an A I think. :-) I'm excited to play them!
Not a video, but an audio file comparison of my Poe A5 and Flatiron A5. Posted in the general audio/sound files section of the forum previously as well: https://app.box.com/s/1y0trpj8re772nd3muzdwris5o0q6inz
What's with Andy's website? It's been down for awhile.
Andy has a new website. It looks to be in the beginning stages. But I think that he just put it up a few days ago. http://poemandolins.com/
Hey all, here is his current website. He is taking a hiatus from custom builds but will continue to build spec instruments and stuff of his choosing. I'm excited to see what he comes up with! http://www.poestrings.net/ I also will be posting a video in the next few weeks showcasing my Driftwood mandolin. It is gorgeous in tone and I actually passed on having a new one built because I loved it so much. It started out as a loaner. :-) I'm going on tour and will be on the west coast then headed back through Idaho, Utah, Colorado, and Kansas back to Missouri.
Hey Nate, I take that to mean you are a touring musician. Do you have a web site for your band? Looking forward to your Driftwood vid.
Officially I'm a guest artist with this group, though we are going to discuss a permanent option. They are a folk/pop duo, and we have yet to record anything together. But here is their facebook and reverbnation links! www.facebook.com/ofseaandstone www.reverbnation.com/ofseaandstone
This isn't my Driftwood review, but it's a video I shot last night. Seemed a fitting tune since I'm flying to LA on Saturday! I love the tone of this mandolin so much. It has excellent balance and a very warm and rounded mid-range.
Nate, I was hoping that you'd have the chance to record a video on my#74 before it was shipped to me. Truthfully, it was probably the clip of you playing #60 that got me off the fence and on Andy's waiting list. Do you have any personal favorites among the many Poe instruments that you've had the opportunity to demo?
Hi! Unfortunately I was out of town when he sent that one. :-( I was going to record on it, just didn't get back in time. So far of the Poe mandolins I've demo'd and owned, my two favorites are my current Driftwood #13 F5 and my mother's Poe #18 A5. I also really really loved Cayuga Red's Scout mandolin. But I have yet to play a Poe that wasn't of stellar tone and quality, in my opinion. I can't wait to see pics and hear your #74!
Here's a quick review and tune on Poe #18, one of the sweetest Poe Mandolin's I've played.
Been a while since someone posted. Here is Driftwood #13 on Angeline the Baker.
