    Greetings,

Just wondering if anyone knows of good instructor in this area. Not a guitar who also plays mandolin.

    Thanks

    Brian,
I've been taking lessons with Pete Frostic (mandolinist with Old School Freight Train) here in Williamsburg for the past couple of years. I think he's a great teacher, flexible in his approach depending on what you're trying to learn. PM me if you'd like more info about Pete.
I know Chris "Bucket" Thomas of this group has taken web lessons from Mike Compton.
I believe Jim_N_Virginia takes occasional lessons from Herschel Sizemore...I think in Roanoke..but that's definitely out of the area. Maybe some other members of the group can chime in with other teaching resources in our general area.

Bill Gurley (mando, guitar, fiddle, banjo, etc.) teaches at his home in Kilmarnock and at Winter Sound Music in Gloucester.

For a local instructor, I highly recommend Pete Frostic.
