It occurs to me that it's better to start a new thread on this, as Eddie's original thread was titled "Recognize this anyone?", which doesn't lend itself to ever being found in the big index listing. Eddie posted the following tune, asking for an identification: John Kelly identified it as "Elizabethan Serenade" by Ronald Binge, a 1951 piece originally written for and recorded by the Mantovani Orchestra and used as theme music for various radio and TV shows. As we play this piece in our ensemble, I have dug out our own version and have recorded a solo rendition of the first mandolin part: The sheet music is here: Page 1 Page 2 Martin
Excellent Martin.
Following up my somewhat crude solo mandolin version in this earlier thread, I have now recorded this piece in the quartet arrangement from our group repertoire folder -- I think this arrangement is by Tony Judge. 1915 Luigi Embergher mandolin (x2) Mid-Missouri M-111 octave mandolin Ozark tenor guitar Martin
charming and majestic
An update on this one: my 2015 version is a bit slow. Here is a new one, reduced from our quartet arrangement to only the first mandolin and guitar parts (I'm playing the guitar bass line on mandocello). Sounds nice, Martin!
Fine delivery of a memorable tune, Martin.
Thanks, John and Jess. Fun tune! Martin
