I am the keeper and player of #472 Standard. What straps do you guys use and do you leave them on in storage and transport? Thanks, Greg

I have #477, a Neoclassical. I use a thin, all leather strap (so nothing hard to scratch the finish). I leave it on the strap buttons, when I put the mandolin back in its case.

I made a strap out of a parachute chord boot lace, with a 2-strand braid. Looks great, never slips, and stays on the Phoenix.

    Don't use a strap.

The paracord material won't hurt the finish? Can you post a picture of it?

    John-

Here's the kind of strap I've made:

and here it is on the Phoenix (not as easy to see)

Cheap, stable, attractive, and functional. No effect on the finish, either. I like 'em

    Brad -

    That looks GREAT!

I'm looking for something just like that.

Nothing but a $2 pair of boot laces woven in a simple 3 strand braid (not 2 strand, oops), with hangman knots on the end (easily found "how to" on the intertubes)

Wonderful in its simplicity. It really compliments the instrument.
