Mandolin Mondays #360 w/ Special Guest Jacob Jolliff

Rating: 1 votes, 5.00 average.
Back on Mandolin Mondays this week, we have Jacob Jolliff and his Gilchrist mandolin joining us to play perhaps the wildest version of "Dear Old Dixie" ever performed.

Since Jacob's last appearance on the series, he's recorded and released a brand new bluegrass album with his band. It's an amazing album featuring Stash Wyslouch on guitar, John Mailander on fiddle, and Myles Sloniker on bass. Definitely worth a listen--check it out here on Bandcamp: https://jacobjolliff.bandcamp.com/al...b-jolliff-band

Also, Jacob teaches privately in person and online. Reach out to him through his website or instagram page to schedule a meeting.

Oh Yeah! Right and left are both working it out there.
I had that bluegrass album on continuous repeat all the way from Florida back to Chicago - amazing stuff. Really enjoying the jazz offerings as well. Keep up the great work!

Yeah, great playing and what seems like an endless stream of ideas. His right hand always amazes me.

The shredding is inspiring, but I'm curious why people are still playing Dixie-themed songs in the 2020s. perhaps the way Jake is transforming the tune...changing it from a peppy marching-band anthem to a much more complex and dissonant thing.... speaks to the myth vs reality of Dixie. An updated approach to an outdated tune
