Callum MT all the way from Scotland is with us this week for Mandolin Mondays! Check out his awesome take on “Say Old Man” played on his powerful JJ Ryan Mandolin.

Callum is a fantastic young mandolinist currently living in Glasgow and is heavily involved in the Scottish bluegrass scene. And he's been busy during lockdown! He just started a new band in the Glasgow area called the Fountaineers. They first began meeting for socially distanced bluegrass jams at a public fountain and decided to make things official. Check out their new Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/TheFountain...=page_internal

Also during Covid, Callum has started sharing his transcription work on his Patreon page where he is you can find great mandolin transcriptions from some classic mandolin records. Check out his work and support him here: https://www.patreon.com/user?u=32270...UdolF9xagF1kqo

Here’s a word from Callum about the piece in this video, “The full tune name is 'Say Old Man, Can You Play the Fiddle?' There are many great recordings of this tune. I heard one with twin fiddlers Jon Beckof and Nate Paine and thought, I'd love to do a solo mandolin version…”

Really nice and tasteful playing. A nice combination of old time and Scottish feel to those variations. When the world returns to normal I will look out for the Fountaineers next time I pass through Glasgow.
